Business Project Outcomes
Independent Project Review
When a major infrastructure programme required an objective assessment of delivery confidence, P34B undertook an independent review of governance, reporting and stakeholder alignment. The resulting assurance report highlighted strengths, vulnerabilities and priority actions, providing leadership with greater clarity and confidence to make informed decisions across programmes contributing to more than £1.2bn of projects and investments supported.
Portfolio Optimisation Review
A property and investment organisation required greater visibility of portfolio risks, vulnerabilities and future opportunities. P34B conducted an independent review using project, operational and stakeholder data to identify areas requiring attention and improvement. The review enabled earlier intervention, improved decision-making and a clearer understanding of portfolio performance.
Transformation Diagnostic
An organisation undergoing significant transformation sought an independent perspective on its current position and future priorities. P34B delivered a structured diagnostic review covering governance, delivery capability and organisational readiness, producing a prioritised roadmap for improvement. The outcome was improved organisational confidence, clearer priorities and a practical basis for implementation.

Project Leadership Mentoring
Project leaders and emerging professionals often require support as they transition into more demanding change and delivery roles. Through mentoring, coaching and constructive challenge, P34B has helped individuals strengthen their confidence, judgement and leadership capability. This approach has contributed to the development of more than 150 emerging professionals, many of whom have progressed into significant project and transformation leadership positions.
Capability & Skills Reviews

P34B has undertaken independent competency and capability assessments that identify areas of strength alongside opportunities for improvement. These reviews have reduced unnecessary training investment while accelerating targeted capability development.
Chartership & Professional Development
Experienced professionals often possess the knowledge and experience required for professional recognition but struggle to articulate it effectively. P34B has supported professionals through mentoring and structured evidence development, helping them achieve professional accreditations and greater confidence in their own capabilities.

Executive Alignment & Project Sponsorship
A manufacturing organisation faced challenges aligning stakeholders around project priorities and delivery expectations. P34B worked with senior leaders to develop an integrated operating model that improved communication, governance and sponsorship arrangements. This created stronger leadership alignment, improved visibility and more effective decision-making across the organisation.
Strategic Planning & Roadmapping
Several PMO, project services and operational businesses required a clearer link between their strategic ambitions and day-to-day delivery activities. P34B facilitated the development of strategic plans and phased improvement roadmaps that aligned business objectives, project priorities and capability investment. The result was greater organisational focus and more effective deployment of resources.
Risk, Action, Issue & Decision Reviews
Project teams often need independent challenge to ensure critical risks and priorities are visible. Through facilitated review workshops, P34B has helped teams identify and address risks, actions, issues and decisions before they became major delivery obstacles. This has improved governance, strengthened accountability and increased leadership confidence.

Project Controls & Reporting Improvement
A major infrastructure organisation required improved visibility of project performance and delivery progress. P34B supported improvements to project controls, governance arrangements and reporting systems, creating a more reliable foundation for leadership decision-making. The outcome was improved assurance, greater transparency and stronger project governance.
Change Implementation Support
Many organisations struggle to sustain change because insufficient emphasis is placed on the people affected. P34B has supported transformation programmes by combining implementation planning with stakeholder engagement and behavioural adoption activities. This balanced approach has increased acceptance, accelerated implementation and helped ensure improvements remain embedded long after change programmes conclude.
Project Management Systems & Governance Frameworks
Organisations seeking greater consistency in project delivery have engaged P34B to support the implementation of project management systems and governance frameworks. Drawing on practical experience and proven approaches, P34B has helped establish repeatable processes and standards that improve delivery maturity and organisational capability.

P34B Outreach PartnerPeople Stories
01. Creating Opportunity When Placements Stopped
In 2021, Covid-19 restrictions had removed many of the industry opportunities normally available to students. P34B responded by creating online project experiences for young people across schools and universities.
Five university students worked together on a project exploring personal goals and future aspirations. Their ambition was to produce a video capable of informing and inspiring students across 154 Lancashire schools. Whatever the eventual reach of the product, the students gained something tangible: real project experience, greater confidence and an output they could discuss with future employers.
This initiative became the starting point for the P34B opportunity model, demonstrating that meaningful experience could still be created when traditional routes were unavailable.
02. From Limited Experience to Project Professional
A university student joined P34B in 2022 with a strong appetite for business and project management, but limited practical experience.
Their placement focused on improving curriculum delivery against recognised careers benchmarks and success criteria. This required the student to understand the challenge, consider the strategic objectives and help formulate a practical improvement plan.
After completing university, the participant progressed into project management opportunities within major public and private sector organisations. Their journey demonstrates how an early project experience can provide the confidence, language and reference points needed to begin a professional career.
03. Quiet Confidence and Sustainable Progression
A university student joined P34B in 2023 and secured their placement because of their attitude and potential. Their project explored employer demand for technical education placements, providing evidence that could inform wider strategic thinking.
The participant presented their findings to business directors, who were impressed by the logical and compelling nature of the work. After university, they approached P34B directly seeking an opportunity in data and analytics. An initial three-month contract became six months and then a longer-term professional relationship.
Since 2024, the individual has gained project and Microsoft qualifications, supported more than 30 people in learning Power BI and contributed to projects involving external partners and businesses. They continue to develop towards professional project, portfolio and data credentials.
“The projects I have worked on have highlighted the importance of the pre-project phase, understanding customer requirements and establishing what is really needed before delivery begins.”
This story demonstrates that people do not need to be the loudest or boldest in the room to create sustainable value. Consistency, curiosity and thoughtful delivery can speak for themselves.
04. Building Organisational Capability Through ISO Accreditation
In 2025, a participant joined P34B on a three-month paid project to support preparations for ISO 9001 accreditation.
Rather than relying entirely on external consultants, P34B wanted to develop internal understanding and capability. Working part-time, sometimes only one day each week, the participant interpreted the requirements, mapped existing processes and produced a consolidated gap analysis.
The participant concluded their role to pursue new opportunities within the golf sector, handing over a clear body of work that P34B subsequently progressed. P34B achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation in December 2025.
The participant also recognised how the experience could support a longer-term ambition to establish their own golf training school. The project therefore created value for the business while developing knowledge the individual could carry into their own future.
05. Turning Learning Into Sustainable Employment
An experienced data professional joined a P34B Skills Bootcamp in 2023. Although familiar with data management and tools such as Tableau, they had not previously used Power BI or gained formal project management qualifications.
The participant embraced every session, demonstrated consistent engagement and applied the learning to their own development. After the programme, P34B shared relevant employment opportunities and provided mentoring around applications and professional presentation.
The individual subsequently applied for and secured a role within local government. They have remained in sustainable employment since.
This case demonstrates what can happen when existing experience is combined with practical project learning, mentoring and the confidence to pursue a new opportunity.
06. Revealing Hidden Potential Through Data
A participant first encountered P34B at a careers and opportunities event before joining a Skills Bootcamp. They engaged quietly and respectfully, progressively developing confidence in Power BI, project management and professional development.
Their project examined the SME market, initially in the North West and then across the UK. The resulting report demonstrated strong research, analytical and reporting capability.
Following the programme, the participant successfully applied for a contract supporting P34B and the delivery of future bootcamps. They improved project and business reporting before securing a permanent data analyst role with a major organisation, where they have since been promoted.
This story demonstrates the hidden talent that exists within local communities. Sometimes people do not need to be changed. They need an opportunity to demonstrate what they can already become.
07. Using a Career Crossroads to Build a New Future
An experienced professional approached P34B at a career crossroads. What began as an initial three-month contract developed into a three-year relationship.
During that period, the individual contributed to multiple projects, helped mature internal practices, mobilised Skills Bootcamps, supported programme management and strengthened P34B’s social value portfolio. Alongside creating value for the business, they developed new project, business and Power BI capabilities.
In 2025, the participant passed a recognised project management qualification and began working towards longer-term professional ambitions. When their time with P34B concluded, P34B supported their transition into a programme delivery role with another social impact organisation, followed by greater portfolio responsibility.
Their journey shows how a career transition can become an opportunity to learn, contribute and move into an entirely new sector.
08. An Unexpected Route Into Programme Delivery
An individual first approached P34B while seeking work experience for a family member. After seeing the effect of that experience, they became interested in the P34B model and asked whether there were opportunities for them to contribute.
At the time, P34B was delivering Skills Bootcamps. The individual joined on an initial three-month contract, which extended to six months, supporting programme facilitation and outcome reporting.
When P34B’s bootcamp delivery concluded, the experience enabled the participant to move seamlessly into another training environment and continue developing.
This case shows that opportunities can emerge through unexpected connections. Being open, interested and prepared to contribute can create a new professional direction.
09. From College Project to Industry Apprenticeship
A college student was introduced to P34B through a family connection. With an interest in manufacturing and engineering, they developed a project aligned with their technical studies.
P34B helped the student convert an early idea into a clear project, develop findings and engage with industry stakeholders. The experience increased their confidence, industry understanding and professional exposure.
After completing college, the individual returned to P34B for an internship focused on securing an industry role. Through mentoring, profile development and interview preparation, they subsequently gained employment with a specialist engineering company and began an industry apprenticeship.
“When I started, I had little to no idea about project management or how it worked in industry. By the end, I was a much more developed version of myself, both professionally and in terms of being industry-ready.”
“I gained experience through team meetings, supporting live projects and developing projects of my own. The placement and internship helped me become more knowledgeable, confident and professional.”
The journey demonstrates how structured work experience can progress into an internship and then into meaningful industry employment.
10. Supporting the Transition From Military to Civilian Employment
A service leaver engaged with P34B during their military resettlement period. Their project explored how people leaving the Armed Forces could prepare for a move into public or private sector employment.
Working with P34B, the participant helped develop a support model designed to make that transition clearer and more manageable. At the same time, they developed their own project competencies, strengthened their professional understanding and prepared for their next step.
The individual subsequently secured a project management role and has remained sustainably employed, contributing to projects across public and private sector environments.
“Thank you again for the opportunity to work alongside the team during my placement. It has been a really good learning curve and something I have definitely gained from.”
“If there is anything I can do to support P34B in the future, I would be pleased to help.”
The project created a potential route for others while helping the participant make their own successful transition.
11. Applying Data Skills to a Property Challenge
A participant joined P34B through a Skills Bootcamp with previous experience in property and projects, but limited exposure to digital reporting, data analytics and Power BI.
They developed a project exploring demand and industry capacity for energy performance certificates, aligning the learning with an area of genuine professional interest. Through consistent engagement, the participant produced tangible findings and observations they could use beyond the programme.
Following the project, they continued to support P34B outreach activities while exploring opportunities aligned with their experience, ambitions and developing digital capabilities.
This case demonstrates how learning becomes more meaningful when it is applied to a real question that matters to the individual.
12. Leading a Community and Environmental Project
A university student joined P34B with no previous project management experience, but with an ambition to work in engineering, building services or project delivery.
Combining this ambition with a strong interest in the environment, the student took responsibility for coordinating a community improvement project with a local heritage partner. They helped shape the scope, stakeholder arrangements, delivery plan and practical activities required for the day.
The project was successfully delivered as a one-day community initiative, generating team-building, stronger connections and positive environmental impact. The student later secured a graduate role with a leading project and programme consultancy.
“Following my assessment centre, I received an offer to join as a Graduate Project Controls Assistant. I cannot believe it. I am over the moon.”
“Thank you for all your help. The placement really supported my case.”
“If my journey can inspire or support others to take that first step, I am more than happy to share it. P34B played a key role in helping me secure this next chapter.”
This story demonstrates what can happen when someone embraces an opportunity, leads a project they care about and learns how to communicate its value.
13. Using One Placement to Create Several Opportunities
A university student initially wanted to create and deliver a meaningful event. During project initiation, it became clear that the ambition was greater than the available time and budget. Rather than abandoning the idea of meaningful work, the student adapted.
They rescoped the placement into an independent review of P34B’s website, drawing on previous marketing experience to produce a professional report that informed future development.
P34B then invited the student to support an employment outreach project. Acting as an assistant project manager, they contributed to event organisation, marketing, planning and delivery, receiving positive feedback from both P34B and the local authority.
After completing university, the participant returned to explore another project focused on helping business management students access project management opportunities within global organisations.
The story demonstrates that changing scope is not failure. It can be a valuable project decision that creates a more achievable outcome and opens the door to further opportunities.
14. From Gaming Experience to Advanced Data Development
A participant joined a P34B Skills Bootcamp with experience and interests in gaming, but no previous background in data analytics or project management.
By developing a project of their own, they began to build digital, analytical and project capabilities. It quickly became clear that the individual had a strong interest in data and was developing a distinctive skill set.
Following completion of the programme, P34B facilitated an introduction to an external industry partner. After progressing through the organisation’s formal selection process, the participant secured a place on a Level 7 data and analytics apprenticeship.
The transition created an advanced learning and career opportunity from a starting point where the participant had not previously viewed data or project management as an established professional pathway.
15. Work Experience With a Real Customer
Since 2022, P34B has provided project-based work experience for students from a local secondary school. The model particularly supports students who have been unable to secure a traditional employer placement.
Over four days, students are introduced to project delivery and then supported to develop individual or group projects, with their school acting as the customer.
On the final day, students present their ideas and recommendations to a senior school leader, receiving feedback from a genuine business and stakeholder perspective.
To date, 31 students have participated in these experiences. Their outputs have consistently demonstrated creativity, professionalism and the value young people can create when trusted with a real challenge.
16. Emerging as a Leader Within a Group Project
A university student first worked with P34B in 2024 as part of a group project exploring the relationship between project management and business.
As the group refined its thinking, the project became more focused on the role of governance within organisations. One participant naturally emerged as a leader, regularly attending review sessions and communicating progress on behalf of the wider team.
The group also attended an in-person review at P34B’s offices, gaining direct workplace experience and professional feedback.
The participant later supported a P34B community project and returned in 2026 for an internship exploring how SMEs incorporate action-centred leadership into their operations. They interviewed business representatives, gathered perspectives and used the project to support their academic dissertation.
This journey demonstrates how leadership can emerge through responsibility, consistency and the willingness to represent others.
17. Finding Career Clarity Before the Project Began
An experienced professional was introduced to P34B while reflecting on their career and seeking to transition into the nuclear sector.
Initial discussions focused on possible project ideas, existing capability and future direction. Through coaching and structured reflection, the individual gained greater clarity about their experience and how it could be presented to employers.
Before the proposed project formally started, they secured a project management role with another consultancy operating in the nuclear sector. Although the original project did not proceed, the intended outcome had already been achieved.
“I was seeking mentorship to support my professional development and transition into the nuclear industry.”
“The discussions encouraged critical thinking and independent thought. The support contributed to my successful transition into the sector.”
This case demonstrates that value is not always defined by completing a planned project. Sometimes the most important outcome is the clarity and confidence to take the next step.
18. Developing Skills, Confidence and Self-Understanding
Since 2021, P34B has supported more than 40 people through Skills Bootcamps, having been among the early providers in Lancashire.
The approach combined project management, Power BI, data analytics and professional development. Rather than completing only theoretical exercises, participants developed projects connected to their interests, circumstances or future ambitions.
Mentoring, coaching, personality insights and professional development were integrated throughout. This helped participants understand not only what they could do, but how they worked, what they valued and where they might progress next.
The programmes achieved a 92% retention rate, with participants expressing appreciation for the support regardless of their eventual employment or development outcome.
19. Helping Apprentices Turn an Idea Into Organisational Change
Since 2023, P34B has supported a group of apprentices already participating in an established employer apprenticeship programme.
With mentoring from experienced project professionals, the apprentices mobilised a stretch project around an improvement opportunity they cared about. What began as an ambition developed into a structured survey, evidence-based findings and a presentation at a national conference.
The work then progressed into an internal business case and, ultimately, a deployed improvement programme across the wider group.
This case demonstrates the value of trusting apprentices with meaningful challenges. With the right support, an early idea can become a credible case for organisational change.
20. Turning a Passion for Formula One Into a Business Project
A young person approached P34B following a referral from a previous contact. Their first engagement was understandably nervous, but a capable project leader soon began to emerge.
Through early conversations, the participant identified a clear passion for Formula One. They transformed that interest into a project exploring how Formula One develops high-performing teams and what modern businesses could learn from those environments.
The participant researched the subject, sought engagement with businesses and experts, and developed a professional presentation and supporting audio. Their final output translated a personal interest into accessible insights for organisations seeking to improve team performance.
This story demonstrates the potential released when someone is encouraged to connect what they care about with a project that can create value for others.
21. Creating a Route Into Project Support Roles
An experienced and highly educated project practitioner recognised how difficult it can be for people to secure project support roles without first having the experience those roles require.
Alongside full-time employment, they developed a project to help individuals assess their existing experience against a professional competency framework. The approach enabled users to identify evidence they already possessed, recognise genuine gaps and determine what further experience or action was required.
Through regular reviews, independent work and continued refinement, the participant began developing a practical method that could support both their own career transition and other people seeking to enter or progress beyond project support roles.
The project shows how lived professional experience can be transformed into a structured solution for a wider community.
22. Turning Redundancy Into a Business Proposition
A participant approached P34B following a university summer school presentation. They urgently needed experience and opportunities to complete apprenticeship commitments after being made redundant by their employer.
The original aim was to support completion of their academic requirements and contribute towards achieving a degree. Through project initiation, however, the opportunity developed into something more significant.
The participant began translating their personal experience, capabilities and ambitions into a new business concept. The project provided a structure for thinking, testing ideas, seeking support and developing a clearer product proposition.
What began as a response to redundancy became the foundation of a purpose-led business opportunity. The participant is now emerging not only as a qualified professional, but as a potential business leader with a clear intention to help others.
23. Rebuilding Visibility Within the Nuclear Sector
An experienced professional approached P34B after completing a previous Skills Bootcamp. Although they had valuable industry experience and recent training, they were struggling to gain traction with employers.
Their project developed into a structured route for experienced professionals seeking to return to the nuclear sector.
The first phase focused on strengthening the participant’s professional profile, CV and approach so that their technical capability could be clearly understood. The second phase involved direct industry engagement, with a third phase focused on converting opportunities into offers.
Throughout the project, the participant engaged consistently and with increasing confidence. They are now actively progressing several opportunities connected to growing nuclear sector demand.
This story demonstrates that experienced professionals may not need to start again. They may simply need help to reposition existing capability for a changing market.
24. Turning a Sporting Passion Into a Data Career
A participant connected with P34B after sharing publicly that they were looking for support. They engaged cautiously at first, having no previous relationship with P34B and no defined project in mind.
During project initiation, a passion for a professional rugby club emerged. The participant developed this interest into a project exploring ways to increase matchday funding.
They created a survey, developed a dashboard and approached senior stakeholders at the club. Although the project did not immediately secure senior engagement or additional matchday funding, it produced something equally valuable for the individual: evidence of their ability to develop digital reports and progress a meaningful project.
The experience contributed to the participant securing a data analyst role within a charity. They completed the project with greater confidence, new practical experience and a clear opportunity to continue developing.
25. Improving How People and Businesses Find Each Other
An established business owner engaged with P34B to explore how they could create additional value for people and employers.
Their project investigated what individuals and organisations are really seeking from one another during recruitment, interviews and employment. Through surveys and analysis, the participant identified several distinctive themes that complemented wider industry research.
Having completed an initial report, they progressed into a second phase focused on designing a practical solution. This includes developing workshop concepts and targeted interventions intended to improve how people and businesses understand each other and make employment decisions.
The work remains in development, with the ambition of creating a focused, evidence-led solution that can operate within grant-funded, public or private sector settings.
Every story on this page began with a project and delivered something more.
For businesses, that meant improved outcomes, stronger capability and greater confidence. For individuals, it meant new experiences, professional growth and access to opportunities that may otherwise never have existed.
Together, these examples demonstrate the value that can be created when people, projects and purpose are aligned.
Creating value for people and businesses through project delivery.
