P34B Recognises the Greatest Delivery Risks Are Often Hidden
Organisations are investing heavily in projects, yet many are overlooking the capability needed to sustain success once delivery support has gone.
Most organisations understand delivery risk.
Projects attract additional governance, specialist support, reporting requirements and executive attention. These measures help improve oversight and increase the likelihood of successful delivery.
However, there is another risk that often receives less attention: capability risk.
When projects finish, people move on. Knowledge can leave with them. Confidence can diminish. Lessons are forgotten. The organisation becomes reliant on external support when the next challenge arrives.
We’ve seen projects achieve their objectives while leaving behind little lasting improvement in the organisation’s ability to deliver the next one.
The strongest organisations take a different approach. They understand that delivery and capability should be developed in parallel. While projects create outcomes, they should also strengthen leadership, build confidence, transfer knowledge and increase organisational resilience.
This matters now more than ever. Skills shortages, increasing complexity and growing delivery demands mean organisations cannot afford to start from scratch every time a new project begins.
The question is no longer simply whether a project will succeed.
The question is whether the organisation will be stronger because it happened.
At P34B, this belief sits at the heart of why we exist. We believe projects should do more than deliver outcomes. They should create confidence, strengthen leadership and build capability that lasts.
What capability will your current projects leave behind when delivery is complete?
